Barnegat Light Ocean Mile Swim

The 15th Annual Barnegat Light Ocean Mile Swim is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 6:30 PM. The one-mile ocean swim is a fundraiser for the Friends of Barnegat Light Beach Patrol and supports free swimming lessons for local elementary-age children. Swimmers check in at 16th Street Beach between 12:00 PM and 5:30 PM, then are transported to the starting line at 30th Street Beach. The course runs north from 30th Street to the finish at 16th Street Beach and is marked with visible buoys, although the final start and finish points may be adjusted based on ocean currents. Registration is limited, entry fees apply, LBI lifeguards receive a reduced fee, Barnegat Light lifeguards may participate for free, and awards are given to top overall, age-group, and team finishers. The race is rain or shine, but hazardous weather or ocean conditions may force postponement or cancellation.
