Beschen-Callahan Memorial Lifeguard Races

The Beschen-Callahan Memorial Lifeguard Races are scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2026 at 6:00 PM on the North Wildwood beach at 15th Avenue. The annual lifeguard competition honors James Beschen and Michael Callahan, local heroes who died while serving in Vietnam. Lifeguards from across the region compete in ocean rescue-style events such as swimming, paddleboarding, rowing, and running. Spectator admission is free.
