What to know
Restoring Battery Gunnison and New Battery Peck is a living-history and preservation program at Battery Gunnison on Sandy Hook. Members of the Army Ground Forces Association work on the restoration of the World War II-era battery while visitors can observe the project, ask questions, and learn about Fort Hancock's coastal defense history. The February 2026 program is scheduled for noon to 5:00 PM and is free to attend.
