Use a legal public curb space near the chosen beach street. Check signs before parking, especially along Central Avenue. Keep the ends of beach streets open for pedestrians, municipal operations and emergency vehicles.
Barnegat Lighthouse State Park
Visitors to Old Barney should use the designated state-park parking rather than searching residential beach streets. NJDEP currently lists no standard entrance fee for Barnegat Lighthouse State Park. Park hours, construction and access conditions can change, so check the state page before traveling.
Viking Village and the Waterfront
Use the parking provided for Viking Village shops and other waterfront businesses while visiting those properties. The surrounding area supports active commercial fishing, deliveries and marina traffic. Do not park in loading, tenant, employee or vessel-service spaces.
Overnight Vehicle Restrictions
Commercial vehicles, trailers, campers and recreational vehicles may not be parked overnight on borough streets from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Covered vehicles include:
- Boats and boat trailers
- Campers and motor homes
- Jet skis and personal-watercraft trailers
- Kayaks and canoes carried or stored as recreational vehicles
- Open utility and enclosed storage trailers
Arrange approved private parking before bringing one of these vehicles.

Best Arrival Strategy
Navigate directly to the beach, lighthouse or Viking Village rather than using “Barnegat Light” as a general destination. During lighthouse events and summer weekends, use only an authorized marked space and never create overflow parking along dunes or commercial access lanes.
