Parking in Surf City

Surf City visitors generally park free on public streets. Beach parking is concentrated on numbered ocean blocks, while spaces near Long Beach Boulevard are better suited to shopping and dining because some have posted time limits.

Surf City Parking at a Glance

• Beach parking: Free curbside spaces on numbered streets east of Long Beach Boulevard.
• Business parking: Street and private customer parking around Long Beach Boulevard.
• Time limits: Some boulevard-area spaces are limited to two hours or less.
• Bayfront parking: Municipal parking is available near the bayfront and boat-ramp area between South First and North First streets.

Where to Park for the Beach

Select a numbered beach street before arriving and search for a legal space between Long Beach Boulevard and the ocean. When the closest block is full, continue one or two streets away instead of waiting beside a beach entrance.

Parking Near Shops and Restaurants

Long Beach Boulevard and nearby cross streets contain spaces intended to support business turnover. Read the posted limit before parking. A one- or two-hour space is appropriate for a meal or shopping but not an all-day beach visit.

Bayfront and Boat-Ramp Parking

The borough-owned bayfront area between South First and North First streets includes parking and a boat ramp. Use these spaces only under the posted facility rules. Boat-ramp permits or payments do not reserve general parking or authorize ocean-beach parking in the lot.

Current No-Parking Areas

Location-specific restrictions apply throughout Surf City. A 2026 ordinance prohibits parking on both sides of designated sections of Drexel Avenue, including between Division Avenue and North First Street and between North Fifth and North Sixth streets. Signs at the location control.

Accessible Parking

Marked accessible spaces are provided at designated locations, including spaces along Long Beach Boulevard. Use a valid placard or plate and keep access aisles and curb ramps open.

Important Restrictions

• Do not block driveways, depressed curbs, hydrants or intersections.
• Do not park a trailer at a beach street end or in the bayfront lot unless expressly permitted.
• Private business lots are for customers and authorized users.
• Temporary construction and event signs override normal parking patterns.
